Michael qualified from St George's Hospital Medical School, University of London in 2007. He first worked in the National Health Service as a Rotational Junior Physiotherapist covering Musculoskeletal Outpatient, Elderly Care & Community Neurological Physiotherapy. He then progressed to work as a Senior Musculoskeletal Physiotherapist. He worked in professional football with West Ham United FC & Fulham FC. He also worked in private practice in London for 6 years which included working with local rugby, golf & athletics clubs, marathon runners, medico-legal cases & local GP referrals before returning home in 2016.Since returning home in 2016 Michael has worked with all age grades of Leitrim GAA up to Senior, both football & hurling whilst working in private practice in Carrick on Shannon. He is currently working on injury prevention with local GAA clubs using current evidence based rehabilitation guidelines. Michael's clinical interests include assessing & treating all musculoskeletal conditions, sports injuries & prevention, spinal conditions & persistent pain conditions.
Michael continues to attend post graduate courses and conferences to continually update his clinical skills and current clinical evidence. He combines his physiotherapy skills with current evidence based pain sciences to ensure optimal patient outcomes. He is very meticulous in his preparation of clinical practice and combines new research studies with his years of clinical experience. Michael is currently registered with Irish Society of Chartered Physiotherapist & the Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Sports and Exercise Medicine.
Outside of clinical practice Michael uses his clinical knowledge to maintain a healthy lifestyle. He enjoys running & general weight training in the local gym. He enjoys watching GAA, rugby & NBA basketball. Michael is a health promotion advocate and shares current research with clinical interpretation on the McNean Physiotherapy Facebook page.
